Hello! My name is Jamie aka Yogi Poppins. I'm passionate about sharing the many benefits of yoga to the "little lights" and the "little lights" at heart. I'm a full time mama bear to my beautiful daughter and handsome little man, animal enthusiast, and lover of all things nature.
So Why Yoga?
I am a Metis Women who began my yoga journey in 2003 after watching a yoga segment on Oprah. The segment inspired me to attend my first class and I never turned back. After benefiting in so many ways from yoga, not only physically but more mentally and spiritually, it became my dream to share this wonderful practice with others.
I hold certifications in hatha yoga, yin yoga, children’s yoga and prenatal yoga. I specialize in children’s yoga and yin yoga.
Working with children to encourage them to discover their inner light is one of my greatest passions. I have taught yoga to thousands of children across Central Alberta. I have an excellent way of connecting with children through playfulness, compassion and patience. Because of this, I have been referred to as the “Mary Poppins of Yoga”.
I have developed the first of its kind, preschool yoga program in Red Deer that is thoroughly enjoyed and loved.
My other passion is teaching yin yoga. A floor-based practice of long, slow holds. Yin Yoga helps us to truly be in the present moment and enjoy the stillness of the body, mind and breath. Yin yoga helps to balance the busy-ness and constant stimulation of life around us, and invites us to soften into a deeper connection with our body's own natural rhythms, our inner knowing and heart.
My teaching style is a gentle and functional approach to yoga which embodies mindfulness, and listening inwards to your OWN needs.

My Teaching Style
My teaching style is aimed at healing and finding that inner peace and love for ones self. Although there are many physical benefits to yoga, my goal is for my students to find self love, contentment, practice healthy yoga and allow their ego to step out of class. Enjoy every moment, with every breath.
My Objective
To provide tools to students through the practice of yoga so that they can heal and love themselves and let their inner light shine bright.
